Well, things have certainly escalated in the past 24 hours haven’t they?

Reports are starting to circulate that the Blades have agreed on a fee with Liverpool for forward Rhian Brewster. Now it should be stressed that nothing has come from any ‘mainstream’ or ‘official’ outlets, so as I always say during the transfer window, believe what you want to believe.

But judging by how it’s coming across from Liverpool based outlets, it’s certainly something that shouldn’t be dismissed straight away.

Does this seem like a lot of money on the face of it? Yes, you could make that argument. For instance, Wayne Rooney moved to Manchester United for £27m back in 2004, and whilst the transfer market has moved on as clubs have more money, that sort of money on someone who hasn’t even played in the Premier League yet might cause some eyebrows to be raised.

Add in the usual ‘English players are overpriced’ argument as well, and it might seem like we’re taking a huge gamble.

Will Brewster be a good addition to the side?

Yes

Yes

No

No

However, I genuinely do think that he could end up being a major part of how we play next season, and if his goals play a part in keeping us up (not that we’re predicted to be in a relegation battle) then the money we get for staying in the Premier League will more than cover that fee.

The club have spoken about their ambitions for the club, and if you want to dream big, you have to spend big. And having complained about the club possibly going cheap on some deals, to see them splashing out on someone would be a welcome relief.

What about you? What do you make of this news surrounding Brewster?

Hope its true, ths blades have done brilliant but were short up front, and one or two players cant raise there game in a empty stadium. new faces are welcome. Brewster looks a great buy for the future, but we still need someone who can hit the net now. Warnock made that mistake in buying for the future .
