Now, we get to see if the people have learned their lessons.

Having underestimated us last season (some would say rightly given the makeup of our squad and whatnot), FourFourTwo have released their predictions for where they think the Blades will end up this campaign, and they have us finishing

Wait for the big reveal…

11th.

The writers claim that we are in for a ‘solid’ campaign this season, citing our “savvy, no-nonsense business” as one of the reasons why they think we will be finishing there.

I think that 11th is probably a fair assessment in the grand scheme of things. It’s a bit of a drop from where we ended the last campaign, which you can probably put down to ‘second-season syndrome’ and teams now getting a lot more time to work out how we play and how to stop us, which let’s be honest, the surprise factor was one of the big ones that helped us last season.

The Blades will finish ______ than last season?

Higher

Higher

Lower

A small point though, I think that there has been some level of generosity attached to this conclusion, and ‘making up for past mistakes’ as it were, because whilst last year was great, it’s based on the idea that we stay as we are from last season.

It’s only going to take one side of the ball to slip up and we could be in big trouble. Having both scored and conceded just over a goal a game it’s a pretty fine balance we’re striking, and if either the attack or defence has a few blips then the points will come tumbling off.

That’s what I’ve been saying about the club taking a step forward, if we stand still or take even the slightest step backwards, then we are going to be in trouble, and it’s time that the club make those changes as we move to the future.
