Despite what some might define as a bit of a rocky start to his second spell at the club, goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale isn’t going down without a fight.

Sheffield United face Burnley in the League Cup tonight in a game that usually results in a number of changes from both sides, and tonight will be no exception.

Blades boss Chris Wilder has already announced that there will be some changes to the Sheffield United team, with the likes of Oli Burke, Jayden Bogle, Max Lowe and Ethan Ampadu set to make their respective debuts for the club, however there wasn’t any talk about who would be between the posts.

Whether it’s because there won’t be any, or Wilder is just keeping that bit of news close to his chest, we’ll just have to wait and find out.

Speaking to The Star, the 22-year-old spoke about his desire to play in every game for the club this season, despite the challenge from Wes Foderingham:

“I want to play every single game I can. Obviously it’s out of my hands, because it’s the manager’s call, but if it was up to me I would play every game I can. That’s what us footballers are brought up to do. Playing games can only build momentum and get you in the groove of things even quicker. So if I am called upon, I’ll be raring to go.”

Who would you start in goal tonight?

Whilst I applaud Ramsdale’s comments here and take it as proof of just how committed he is to the clause here at Bramall Lane, I do think that a game such as this is what backup goalkeepers are for, and do offer a good chance for him to ‘shake some rust off’ and get himself in match shape for if we need him for a long spell in league games.

But, as Ramsdale says, it’s Wilder’s call an it will be interesting to see if he goes for a complete change of team tonight or whether or not there will be a few first-team regulars such as Ramsdale in the starting line-up.

What about you? Who would you start in goal tonight?
