Report: Blades forward on thin ice when it comes to his future at Bramall Lane

|

Well this might certainly add some credibility to the reports.

There have been reports of some problems recently between Chris Wilder and forward Lys Mousset after the Frenchman was left out of our recent game against Everton, and now it looks as if the reason why could be coming to light.

According to a report from Yorkshire Live, Wilder hasn’t been too pleased with Mousset’s fitness recently, which might go some way to explaining how he has only played 214 minutes out of a possible 810 since the Premier League got back underway in June.

This isn’t the first time that the two have crossed paths, with Wilder saying before the recent game against Chelsea that Mousset that he needed to do more with his opportunities whenever he was playing.

I said yesterday that hopefully this is something that can be resolved one way or the other, otherwise we risk having such a fantastic season-ending on quite a sour note, with the potential of it leaking into next season.

Has Mousset been a good buy for Sheffield United?

Yes

Yes

No

Given his levels of production, even if it has been with limited opportunities, I think we do need to consider if there is a place for him in this team for the long-term. With quality upfront a big talking point recently, can we really afford to carry more players than we need to when it comes to the forward department?

We’ve been incredibly lucky this year that our defence has managed to hold its own this year, but I’d be surprised if that carries over into next year, especially if we end up losing a key part of that backline, and if the number of goals conceded rise, we’re going to have to see the same happen in the ‘scored’ column, otherwise we’ll take a massive step back.

What about you? What do you make of these claims?
