It looks as if Chris Wilder is pleading the fifth, and in any walk of life, that’s not really a good sign is it?

Pleading the 5th, for those who don’t know, is an American term that means “to refuse to answer a question, especially in a criminal trial, on the grounds that you might incriminate yourself.” And that is pretty much what the Blades boss has done when it comes to questions surrounding forward Lys Mousset.

There have been reports of recent problems between the two men, but when pushed for comment on it after the game with Everton, he wasn’t very committal with the answer, issuing a frank ‘no comment’. Common logic dictates that if there was no problem, then he wouldn’t have anything to hide in this matter.

Now, it should be stressed that these are just reports, nothing has been confirmed, and it’s not as if they both went full Lee Bowyer v Kieron Dyer on the touchline for us all to see, but still there’s no smoke without fire.

Has Mousset been a good buy for Sheffield United?

Yes

Yes

No

It’s quite well known that Sheffield United have been a pretty harmonious squad for a long time under Wilder, and it would be an awful shame for things to start boiling over and potentially spoiling what has been a fantastic season, so hopefully this is something that can be wrapped up and dealt with quickly and easily so it doesn’t spill over into next season.

If not, then is it worth us considering getting rid of Mousset altogether and not letting a bad apple spoil the bunch?
