Report: Why these unique circumstances can benefit two particular Blades and their contracts

|

Sheffield United are feeling incredibly confident that they can tie up deals for two of their loanees in the coming weeks.

Nothing to worry about, it looks as if we have things under control, indeed this could be a blessing in disguise.

According to a report in The Sheffield Star, the Blades are confident that they will be able to keep hold of the two loanees for the remainder of the season whilst we continue our charge up towards the upper end of the table, and a subsequent place in Europe.

Panos Retsos and Richairo Živković are the two men in question and whilst neither have really made a major impact on the squad, having made just one appearance between them all season, I do think that they do have a part left to play this season.

The report states that whilst the club have ‘first refusal clauses’ inserted into their contracts, they become null and void if the option is not taken up before the end of May. However, given the current situation, FIFA did announce that all contracts are going to automatically be extended until the end of the club’s respective seasons.

Should we be making a move for this many players at once?

Yes

No

No

Even though they have struggled to make an impact on the team this season, given that we are going to be heading into very much uncharted territory with the Coronavirus and how the season is going to end, if indeed it ends at all.

The fact that clubs are vying for there to be five substitutions per match rather than the traditional three, shows you that clubs are concerned about fitness levels of the players, and as a result, we are going to need every body that we can muster.

And that is going to give these players a real chance to prove themselves, and then that first refusal clause might come in handy when and if we want to bring them back to Bramall Lane next campaign.
