Making an impact, even when he’s not on the pitch.

That appeared to be the attitude that Blades midfielder Ben Osborn wanted to get across when discussing his role in the side.

The 25-year-old midfielder has had to wait his time to get a regular run of games in the first team this season, but he’s made the most of his opportunities when they have come along, bringing plenty of praise from supporters along with it.

However, with John Fleck potentially returning from injury very soon, those opportunities might go away again, but he doesn’t seem to downhearted about the prospect. Speaking ahead of the clash with Leicester City, Osborn talked about his place in the team and what he can offer even when he isn’t playing:

“We’ve had some good results and I feel like I’ve done all I can. Flecky’s been my player of the year this season and it’s up to the manager but all I can do is give as much as I can to make it a difficult decision for him.”

Will Osborn start more than 15 games for us next season?

Yes

No

I think that Osborn’s displays, whilst they’ve been pretty good this season, are going to hold more importance for us going forward into next season. This shows that we have a player who can come in and do a job for us if we need him to next season when we will hopefully be competing on multiple fronts by qualifying for Europe.

As a result, that’s one area that we can pretty much ‘tick off’ in the transfer market because it means we don’t have to try and bring someone in, saving us money that we can use elsewhere in the squad.

What about you? What do you make of Osborn’s comments and recent form?
