As expected, Sheffield United have relieved coach Paul Heckingbottom of his managerial duties and has swiftly been replaced prior to the Blades home clash with Liverpool tomorrow night.
The Blades will host Liverpool at Bramall Lane in the Premier League tomorrow night (Wednesday, 6th December) at 7:30 PM.
Heckingbottom has been removed from his post having taken on the managerial role in October 2021 after he took over the reins from Slavisa Jokanovic. Under his leadership, he guided United to the Championship Play-Off semi-finals in 2022, before gaining automatic promotion last season after finishing second behind Burnley. Last season he also guided the S2 club to the FA Cup semi-final, losing 3-0 at Manchester City at Wembley. Despite a short period of approximately two years, the former Barnsley and Leeds United manager achieved great things – something which the Blades faithful will never forget!
The dugout will be filled by a familiar face in former boss, Chris Wilder, who masterminded the Blades promotion from League One in 2017 and then into the Premier League in 2019. Arguably, he has taken on a bigger challenge as Sheffield United, who are bottom of the league, attempt to stave off relegation come May.
