So the deal might still be on, but we might just be renting him rather than buying him.

That was my takeaway from the latest news coming from journalist Alan Nixon when it came to our pursuit of Rhian Brewster. Chris Wilder gave fans a bit of an update in regards to what’s going on after the game against Aston Villa, saying that it’s not as easy as people think to make a signing.

And Nixon’s latest update would sort of give testimony to that theory, as it turns out that despite some reports that we’ve agreed to bring him in on a permanent deal, it could prove to be rather expensive for us, meaning if we’re going to bring him in at all, it’s going to have to be on a loan deal:

Which is somewhat of a smart move on the outset, if we can push off paying a major fee for him until next summer when we’ve hopefully got more money in the bank for staying in the league again, then it would make sense for both sides.

Let’s just hope that we get something concrete in the contract first that allows us to keep him, otherwise we’ll have another Dean Henderson on our hands where he does so well his parent club don’t want him to leave.

What about you? What do you make of this news regarding Brewster?
