Middlesborough winger Mark Yeates is set to join Sheffield United next week as Kevin Blackwell looks to bolster his squad.

The winger, who was signed by Gareth Southgate in the summer had an excellent start to the season, but has found himself out of favour since Gordon Strachan’s arrival, especially with the arrival of Flood and Robson from former club Celtic.

Yeates first caught the eye when he appeared for Colchester United against Bryan Robson’s Blades in 2007 when his man of the match performance helped claim a point for the U’s.

Blackwell said of the imminent signing:

“The game against Middlesbrough was a classic example of wide players heavily involved in winning games.

“These days wingers have to be athletes who can get up and down the pitch and I think Mark can bring something different to what we already have at the club.

Now, it seems he’s all set to reappear at Bramall Lane in the Blades red and white.
