Sheffield United today sealed their second permanent signing of the January transfer window, as winger Mark Yeates completed his deal from Middlesborough.

Yeates, who has found himself out of favour since Gordon Strachan’s arrival has signed a two and a half year deal with the Blades for an undisclosed fee, and Kevin Blackwell sounded in high spirits at finally getting his man.

‘I’m delighted to finally get my man, although I’m surprised ‘Boro let him go.’

Yeates will hope to have more luck with the number 11 shirt than it’s former holder Lee Hendrie, who failed to make an impression at Bramall Lane.
