Why Carney get a game?

It may be our summertime here but Australian winger David Carney must be feeling the Oz winter as he is left out in the cold yet again.

An outing in pre season and a game during the week for the reserves trip to Leicester City hasn’t been enough to be considered for a first team berth.

The winger features predominantly for Australia, and was awarded the national team’s player of the year in 2008 for his impressive performances on the wing and at left back.

However, Kevin Blackwell opted to have a substitute short at Reading rather than include the ex Sydney FC man in the squad. A stunning 25 yard strike against Ireland last month brought the 25 year old back into the spotlight, but it still isn’t enough.

Like Manchester United’s Dimitar Berbatov, his ability has never beenn questioned, but the lacksidasical manner he carries himself prompted a number of Blades fans to question his commitment.

Certain comments made last season when he was left out, and his desire to play at the Olympics against Kevin Blackwell’s wishes have done little help the chances of the man who last featured in the League Cup game at Huddersfield Town in 2008.
