Who’s In and Who’s Out Ahead Of Tonight’s Clash With Wolves

|

Sheffield United will be searching again for maximum points when they entertain Wolverhampton Wanderers in the first top-flight match since 1976. Have beaten Tottenham in their last home fixture, the Blades will be looking for their second successive victory on Bramall Lane soil.

Sheffield United have found the return to football labouring and had taken them some time to get back into the swing of things. After a draw and two defeats on the road, United got over a FA Cup hangover with a 3-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in their first Premier League match at Bramall Lane.

Chris Wilder’s Blades could see the return of defender Jack O’Connell into the starting XI. He had missed the opening games of the re-start but played his first game of professional football since March when came on a substitute at Turf Moor. If selected, it will mean Jack Robinson, who has impressed, will drop to the bench.

Meanwhile, trio; John Fleck (groin), John Lundstram (shoulder) and Luke Freeman (unknown) are expected to be sidelined for a fortnight, and we project them possibly to return in the home match with Chelsea. Striker Leon Clarke is also ruled out with injury.

Coming back from the re-start, Wolves had made headway and have done well to continue their fine form. Before the lockdown, the Molineux club had gone five Premier League matches unbeaten and to go back to New Years Day in a 2-1 defeat at Watford since they registered their last league defeat.

Over 100 days of football absence threatened to prove difficult times for all clubs returning to match action, but Wolves carried on their unbeaten run and added victories against Aston Villa, AFC Bournemouth (both 1-0) and a 2-0 win at the London Stadium against West Ham.

Their unbeaten runs grind to a halt in their last fixture, last Sunday, as they lost 2-0 at home to Arsenal. Despite the result, what was, perhaps, more impressive was Bukayo Saka’s opener on 43 minutes, which proved to be Wanderers first goal conceded in 358 minutes of professional football. The last player score against them, before Saka, was Tottenham’s Serge on 45 minutes, on 1st March.

Wolves looked set to travel to Bramall Lane today with a fully fit squad, however, reports have emerged from ThisIsFutbol that they could be without key attacker Pedro Neto through injury.
