David Weir blamed himself after another defeat for Sheffield United this season.

The blades haven`t won since the first weekend of the season, they have now picked up just one point from their last six games to leave them on the verge of the relegation places, and Weir blames himself and not the players for their form.

Speaking on Radio Sheffield, Weir said, ‘It was disappointing, frustrating and we’re questioning a lot of things, questioning ourselves.

‘I am trying to get to the root of the problem. We’ll try to be honest with each other as we can and try to get to the position where by we’re improving but at the minute it’s very, very hard and it is hurting all of us.

“We are not getting the end results. We are not scoring goals, we are conceding goals, and that is my responsibility.

‘The message I put across to the players and how they perform is my responsibility so I don’t think it’s the players’ fault.’

The blades went down to a 1-0 defeat at managerless Carlisle United on Saturday.

Carlisle had conceded 15 goals in their previous 6 games this season but Sheffield United rarely tested Gillespie in the Carlisle goal.

Weir must quickly find a solution to the shot shy blades who have netted just five goals in seven league games this season.
