Goalkeeper George Long departed Bramall Lane for the last time yesterday and made the switch out to Hull City.

The transfer went through for an officially undisclosed fee and the 24-year-old Academy graduate now reunites with former United gaffer Nigel Adkins. As the Blades announced his departure they also stated that we have secured a future sell-on fee for the talented stopper, so despite letting him go we expect him to go on and have a good and rewarding career.
He did however only feature five times under manager Chris Wilder and he spent the season of 2017/18 out on loan in League One with AFC Wimbledon. Prior to Wilder’s arrival at the club, he did make 123 appearances in total for the first-team. Having made his debut back in May 2011, his last appearance came in November 2016.
He was clearly wished well for the future – especially with a sell-on clause – and fans were also quick to thank him for his efforts between the sticks.
Been saying the same for a year it was disgusting the way some so called fans treated him

100% agree. Our fans crucified him when he had a horrendous back 4 to deal with at such a young age. His only chance of success was away from BDTBL

Great goalkeeper who’s career at the Lane was destroyed by certain ‘fans’. No goal keeper in the world could have done better than him considering the back four he was playing behind. Best of luck George.

Good luck to him still a good age and hope he does well. A blade through and through who had his confidence crushed by some of our fans and unfortunately he turned into a bag of nerves. All the best

Good luck to the lad! Came into the side at such the wrong time and was always going to be hard to come back from that at the Lane!
