Sander Berge under Paul Heckingbottom has tremendously improved his attacking output. The Norwegian scored 5 goals last season when Heckingbottom took over as manager, and he’s already managed to bag 2 goals in the first 3 league games this season.

It seems like Heckingbottom has instilled belief in the 24 year-old again, and in return the United fans are seeing a more aggressive and confident Sander Berge.

Under Chris Wilder and Slavisa Jokanovic, Berge was more involved in play in deeper areas of midfield. The current Blades boss has pushed him further up the field where he can have more touches in and around the edge of the box, and it’s paid off.

As the Blades gaffer explained:

“When he came to England he was a #6. We want to get him more involved higher up the pitch + he’s really enjoyed it + he’s gradually got better in terms of goal threat. I don’t think he would’ve shot from there last season.” [Sheffield United YouTube]

Paul Heckingbottom spoke to the Yorkshire Post about the Norwegian midfielder:

“If Sander continues scoring every game and does this, that and the other, then someone is probably going to pay the number that I don’t want them to pay. But then there would be nothing we can do about it.” [Yorkshire Post]
