Jose Baxter made his return from injury on Tuesday and he played a key role in Sheffield United’s win over Hartlepool United in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy win.

Baxter’s return from injury came ahead of schedule so his 45-minute outing was an added bonus, his goal more so with that a sign ‘of what he can do’ according to Nigel Clough.

After the game the boss said: ‘His was a fine goal that showed what he is capable of.

‘It was a good 45 minutes for him and very important to get him back on the pitch – especially a bit ahead of schedule.’

The former Oldham Athletic and Everton man will still need a couple of weeks to get back to full fitness but Clough was happy to see him show us ‘what we have missed’ in his absence with him also of the opinion that he can be ‘the difference-maker’ for us going forward.

His versatility to play in a range of position also bodes well with Clough hopeful that with him back to fitness he can make a big difference for us and help us climb up the league 1 table.
