Survival of the fittest.

That could very well be the order of the day when it comes to the rest of the Premier League season which is now just a week away from being back underway.

And according to one member of the Blades team, we should be in a very good position to start off with.

Speaking in an interview with The Star, Oli McBurnie talked about what life was like away from the training ground before the players were allowed back into the facility, before going on to say how well the players handled themselves when they were away:

“He was texting most of the boys, asking how everyone was getting on. Lockdown was as hard for him as it was for us. Worrying about whether we were staying in good nick was probably his main concern. A lot of the boys look better than they did when the season was stopped. The shape the lads came back in said a lot about the respect the lads hold the gaffer in, 100 per cent. But those 2,000-metre runs we had to all do once back in were not fun. I never want to do them again.”

All I will say, is that hopefully he’d right about the fitness levels, because along with the mental side of being ready to go, that is arguably going to be the most crucial part of teams getting back to action.

Do you have faith in the Blades' levels of fitness?

Yes

Yes

No

No

We’ve seen how the teams in the Bundesliga are struggling with injuries now that they are back up and running, and if a similar situation appears in the Premier League, then it really could be a case of survival of the fittest.

Whilst it’s hard to tell just how fit players across the other teams in the league are, so long as the Blades are confident in their levels heading into the restart, then I am just as confident that it won’t be a problem for us to have to deal with it.

What about you? Do these comments from McBurnie make you confident that we’ll be able to hit the ground running next week against Aston Villa and through the rest of the season?
