Sheffield United boss David Weir was left disappointed after seeing his side beaten at Brentford.

Weir watched his side go down to a 3-1 defeat and he was critical of ‘sloppy play` by his side.

Speaking on BBC Radio Sheffield, Weir said, ‘Obviously very disappointed, I don’t think you’ll win a game losing three goals. It’s very difficult to lose three goals, and try and win the game.

‘Disappointed the way we conceded the goals and disappointed with certain aspects of it. Especially after getting back into the game.

‘I thought we were a little bit sloppy in regards to decision making at times and at crucial moments in the game, which ultimately cost us.’

United went behind on 35 minutes when the defence backed off, allowing Adam Forshaw to shot unchallenged from the edge of the area.

The Blades were back in the game before the hour when Neil Collins headed home from a corner.

It proved to be a false dawn. Will Grigg restored Brentford`s lead within five minutes when Stephen McGinn made a mess of trying to run the ball out of play. George Saville got in behind the United defence and he teed-up Grigg, who made no mistake.

Grigg extended the lead when Forshaw came away with the ball after United were outmuscled in the challenge. The Brentford midfielder had plenty of space to run into and get his shot away. Long could only parry his shot into the path of Grigg, who couldn`t miss from close range.

Brentford could have had a fourth before full time when Grigg won a soft penalty after Harry Maguire was harshly adjudged to have fouled the former Walsall striker.

George Long produced an excellent save to deny Grigg from the spot but it was a disappointing afternoon for United who must now go back to the drawing board.
