Tottenham and Liverpool joined us and Chelsea, quarter final winners on Tuesday night, in the semi finals of the league cup tonight with wins over Newcastle and Bournemouth respectively.
With the draw made after these games we now know that we’ll play Tottenham over two-legs for a place in the final.
Having already knocked out Premier League teams Southampton and West Ham the semi final that we face against Spurs next month will see us go in with confidence and belief we can beat another to make the final in March.
The first legs will be played the week commencing 19th January with the second legs the week after, week commencing 26th January.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is already expecting a difficult game, saying: ‘We have respect for Sheffield United – it is never easy. They deserve to be in the semi-final.
‘We expect a tough game.’
