Sheffield United did it again, as we have so often in recent times, as we cause an a cup upset on Tuesday night.

A place in the semi finals of the league cup was secured by Sheffield United when we saw off Premier League side Southampton one-nil at Bramall Lane.

An early foul on Campbell-Ryce by Bertrand gave us an early chance to put in a telling ball, which Campbell-Ryce did but no one could put a touch on it with Howard fortunate to get away with a failure to claim the ball twice in successful with Mane failing to capitalise.

Shortly after the hour we made the breakthrough when Mane, already booked, committed a foul on the edge of the box. Harris took this, Forster couldn’t hit this with McNulty (63) following up to score and give us the lead.

Mane almost made aments but Howard denied. We should have secured the win late on after Murphy took the ball off Fonte but his effort was parried by Forster with Gardos blocked Adams’ follow-up, denying our recent signing a debut goal.

Southampton ended with 10-men when Gardos was sent off for two yellow cards, but it didn’t matter to us as we went through.
