United’s exciting young right-wingback Jayden Bogle could be returning to action sooner than what the coaching staff thought.

Bogle, 21, had surgery on his knee back in February because of some cartilage damage. Before that, Bogle cemented himself as the first choice down the right side, he made United a huge threat when attacking down the right.

The 21 year-old scored 3 goals from 16 starts in last seasons Championship campaign, and he was one of the Blades most influential players whenever he was fielded.

Paul Heckingbottom has recently received some great news about Jayden Bogle’s recovery from the knee surgery:

“He’s good, yeah. Everyone’s pleased with him. There will be no rush, just because of how tough the injury can be.

“He was carrying something for a few games and he wanted to keep playing and stay on the pitch, but gradually it was hurting earlier in the game and then it became restrictive. And it was cartilage damage.

“If you’re having those sorts of operations, cartilage replacements and things it’s never a straightforward job. But as I say he’s in a good place at the minute and is reacting really well.”

Heckingbottom added:

“The type of injury, it’s not just a little nick in the cartilage, it’s a big operation in itself. It wasn’t just a case of dipping in the knee and taking a large piece of cartilage out, he needed a big operation on it.

“Once we’d had the scan and saw the type of injury, the decision was made anyway for us not to keep him playing because we didn’t want to have any long-term damage.

“But he’s sort of turned the corner in terms of reacting to things and everyone’s pleased with him. He’s got back up there with his strength, so we’ll start progressing things a little bit more.” [Via Yorkshire Live]
