The Blades rounded off their tour of Ireland with a 2-0 win over Portadown, with both goals coming in the final five minutes of the game.

Chris Armstrong and James Ashmore were the scorers in a game that saw the Blades create plenty of chances in front of goal.

The game gave Ahmed Fathi his first action of the pre-season and also offered a run out for Newry’s highly rated captain Richard Clarke, who is on trial with the Blades.

United’s opener came in the 85th minute, after Quinn and ARMSTRONG exchanged passes, with the latter scoring at the second attempt.

United made the score line more comfortable in the final moments of the game as ASHMORE scored a 15 yard volley from a Naysmith cross.

The Blades are in action again on Tuesday night (31st July) as they take on local rivals Rotherham at Millmoor, kick off 7.45pm.
