Sheffield United’s Nick Montgomery and Paddy Kenny have both signed extensions to their contracts that will keep them at the club until 2010.
The loyalty from Montgomery was expected, with the signature from Kenny being the more surprising of the two.
Discussions regarding Kenny’s new contract seemed to have stalled amid rumours that Bolton Wanderers were interested in signing the Irish international keeper.
However, the news that Kenny has agreed to extend his current contract with the club suggests he is now staying with the Blades.
The Blades have also shown an interest in Newry City captain Richard Clarke, who impressed in the recent friendly during United’s pre-season tour.
