It’s something that has sort of slipped under the radar a little bit in all of this.

Although given the way that it has supposedly been diminished over the years, it really shouldn’t come as a major surprise.

There have been many reports about what is going to happen to finish off the league season and whether or not they are all going to have to be played at ‘neutral venues’. You’ve even had UEFA postponing their club competitions until we get to a stage where this all blows over.

However there is one competition that hasn’t been getting as much attention as it arguably should be, and that’s the F.A Cup. The Blades were initially set to face Arsenal in the competition before all football was suspended in wake of the Coronavirus, but so far not a lot has been said about how it is going to be finished, at least not to the extent of the other competitions.

Personally, I think that the FA Cup may end up being scrapped for this season, if we are going to get everything in. You’ve seen how much trouble it is causing to just get the league fixtures out the way, then when you have to factor in the extra number of games in trying to get that competition finished as well, and it just doesn’t look good.

Will the F.A Cup end up being scrapped this season?

Yes

Yes

No

And in all honesty, as much as I love the F.A Cup and hoped we’d do well in it, and how I’ve spoken about wanting football to be back, I wouldn’t totally blame them. The whole Premier League and EFL debacle is circulated around the financial aspect of the game, and that money just isn’t there to make the F.A Cup seem as important, even though the prestige should be enough to see it through.

But as the decision to cancel football below the National League level showed, unless it makes money, it doesn’t seem to be that important, and that’s really what seems to be driving the decisions these days.

What about you? Do you think that the F.A Cup is going to end up being sacrificed in all of this? Or do you think that they will find some way to get it all done by hook or by crook?
