Is it a sacrifice we should be willing to make?

And is he a player that we really need right now? But is what we’d be giving up for him worth what we’d get in return? These are all the questions that were going on in my head when I saw the latest report about our transfer activities this summer.

According to a report from Alan Nixon at The Sun, Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion are potentially going to get involved in a swap deal for two of their respective players. It involves Callum Robinson making the move to The Hawthorns following his loan spell there last year, whilst we would receive Oli Burke from the Baggies in return.

Now those of you who are regulars to this site will know that I’m not a big fan of Robinson and what he brings to the team, so the departure side of this I’d be completely fine with. It’s who we’d be getting back that I’m more concerned with.

What should happen to Robinson this summer?

Having once been one of the hottest prospects in British football, things just haven’t gone right for Burke in recent years, with loan spells out to Celtic and Deportivo Alaves not exactly doing a lot to get him back on track. If we were bringing him in earlier on in his career, where we could help mould him, then I’d be more tempted to want to bring him to Bramall Lane. At this stage of his career though, and given the chances he’s had, I think he’s shown what he’s likely to be.

In addition to that, he’s more of a wide player, and given Chris Wilder’s tendency to play 3-5-2, unless he’d be willing to shift to a wing-back rather than a winger, I don’t think there would be much chance of him getting into this team going forward.

Long story short. Thanks, but no thanks.
