On The Up!!

I listened to the match against Peterborough last night on Radio Sheffield.

It sounded as though the team had picked up their game somewhat. It was interesting listening to Keith Edwards giving Basham some stick, however, he ended up being impressed that he was one of the only few to get behind the opposition back four.

I`m glad we won 2-1, and it was nice to see Davies getting on the score sheet. He`s worked so hard in my opinion in the opening games.

I`m a bit dubious of playing one up front still though, it would be nice to see two strikers on the pitch, but I`m sure NC has his reasons for the lone striker option.

It was mentioned in previous matches that a lot of our midfield haven`t been firing on all cylinders recently, and from the last match, Scougall, Basham and Murphy stood out as being below par for me. Basham appeared to liven up a bit last night, so let`s hope this is the start of the team getting used to each other now. Another welcome option was a big pair at the back, bringing Collins and Harrison in as a centre partnership. You need big lads at the back to deal with the crosses and high balls.

There has been a few rumours banding around about the lack of play that Butler is getting at the moment. I`m sure NC has his reasons for omitting him, but I don`t think knee jerk reactions from fans is the way forward – after all, he scored against Mansfield, so he looks capable of being a stalwart at the back when he gets a bit more match fitness.

All in all, hopefully this is the start of us gaining ground and being in the mix from now on, Crawley on Saturday – looking forward to being back on the Kop – which will be my last match at Bramall Lane until the new year, due to the fact that work has given me a date for going back to sea! Typical, work gets in the way of the footy season all the time!
