At least he knows what the challenge is for this season.

Now it’s just a case of making sure that he can make good on his promise.

So the Premier League is finally upon us, and it’s time for us to see if we can go one better than we did during the 2019/20 season.

And given that we have been predicted to finish a lot better than we were in the previous campaign, there’s going to be a lot of talk about expectations this time around, and whether or not the whole thing was just a fluke or if we can repeat our tremendous success from last year.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of the clash with Wolves (via @The_Bladesman), Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder talked about last season and how things will be different going into this campaign.

“People observing what we did last year will be impressed in terms of how we attacked the division and our league position but that counts for nothing. The group is stronger in my opinion and now we have to walk the walk.”

The Blades will finish ______ than last season?

It’s something that the club are very much aware of, at least if John Egan’s words are anything to go by. I’ve talked a little bit before about second-season syndrome and the effect it could have on the team this season, but I think that the new signings the club have made will add that little bit of depth to the squad and even if there is that little bit of a dip, it shouldn’t be too drastic that we’ll find ourselves in major trouble.

But as Wilder himself says, it’s time to walk the walk. The expectations have been raised slightly, now it’s time to make sure that they aren’t proved wrong for the second season in a row.
