I think that’s the easiest way to put any rumour like this to bed.

I just hope we don’t regret not making anything of it further down the line. According to a report over the weekend in The Daily Mail, Sheffield United were interested in bringing in former Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge on a free transfer seeing as we were struggling to make deals for the likes of Rhian Brewster materialise due to us and Liverpool being too far apart in terms of the fee.

In my opinion, I felt it would be a very good move for us to make if we could get the finances right on the deal, perhaps under a ‘pay as you play’ deal to help offset his injury record that would have every chance of popping up in the future.

However, speaking after the game Chris Wilder was pretty adamant that we wouldn’t be going after him:

Are you a fan of Chris Wilder's attitude here?

Yes

Yes

No

Which is fair enough, there are enough reasons to think that Sturridge isn’t the right man to bring in, whether it be his injury record, or the fact it would go somewhat against our mantra that we’ve been trying to develop this summer. But at this stage, when we’re struggling to find the back of the net, are we really in a position to be dismissing players so quickly?

After all beggars can’t be choosers.

What about you? What do you make of Wilder’s comments regarding Sturridge?
