Sheffield United was left frustrated by officials after a last-minute penalty claim was waved away when Sander Berge drove to the byline and had his shirt pulled by Andre Dozzell.

The Blades are now level on points with Norwich City but sit at the top of the league on goal difference after Norwich gained a point in a 1-1 draw against Reading last night. United felt that they should’ve had a chance to end the game 1-1 last night too, but the referee disagreed.

Paul Heckingbottom was asked after the game what he thought of the last-minute penalty incident:

“He’s got 2 hands pulling his shirt back. It’s not that, it’s the fact Sander’s got injured off the back of it. If you plant your foot and then get tugged back you’re not going to kick the ball properly. Everyone could see it.” [SUTV]

QPR now move up to 4th and are 3pts behind United and Norwich after their 1-0 victory.

The QPR manager, Michael Beale also commented on United’s penalty claim:

“If it’s in the middle of the park, it’s a foul right?”

As a result of the foul on Berge, United has sent the Norwegian midfielder off for a scan because of the awkwardness in the way Berge fell. The Blades are crossing their fingers and hoping that no damage has been done to the knee of Sander Berge.

United travel to Stoke for a Saturday afternoon kick-off. Stoke City’s home form isn’t the best, winning once this season and as a result are 20th in the home table.

Since the appointment of Alex Neil, Stoke hasn’t had the change in the form that they hoped they would have. Neil has won one game, drawing two and losing the other two. They have scored five goals and conceded 7. They play Burnley away on Wednesday evening.
