Blades Without Trio Ahead of Stoke Clash

Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbottom faces a selection headache ahead of this weekend’s clash at Stoke City, with a further three players absent for their trip to the Bet365 Stadium.

Despite failing to win in their two fixtures played since the return from the international break, the Blades remain top of the league by virtue of a better goal difference, however, Norwich City (or Reading), could steal the top spot should United fail to win their Championship fixture. Since returning from the break, United drew with Birmingham City last Saturday, before suffering their first home league defeat of the season against QPR in midweek

The Blades are, frustratingly, hampered by injuries, making squad selections difficult. Right-Wing-Back, George Baldock, was forced to leave the field early through injury, whilst midfielder Sander Berge suffered a late knock and requires a scan which could force the Norwegian out of contention. In addition, striker Oli McBurnie was booked after the final whistle, his fifth of the campaign, and will likely carry a one-match suspension and will be available for selection at home to Blackpool on 15th October.

Whilst we are in the preliminary stages of the season, as a supporter, it’s frustrating that for the third consecutive season, the Blades are hampered by injuries, whilst could cost the club dearly in their promotion charge.
