United’s number 9, Oli McBurnie, scored a stunning swivelled volley on Saturday afternoon against Birmingham City. A goal that was fit to win any football match, but United were pegged back by a poor goal to concede from their point of view.

McBurnie, 26, has been in superb form in front of goal so far this season. The Scottish striker gave his verdict on the match to SUTV, he said:

“We knew they were going to come and make things difficult, sit behind the ball, drop deep, and frustrate us.”

The Blades weren’t quite at it against Birmingham City, and they only created one big chance all game. McBurnie told SUTV: “That little bit of quality or that little bit of magic that we needed to break them down wasn’t quite there.”

Oli McBurnie is now United’s joint top goalscorer with 5 goals, along with Iliman Ndiaye. Yesterday’s goal means that McBurnie now has 5 goals in his last 6 appearances. He commented on his goal after the game: “I was getting angry because I wasn’t really touching the ball so I just tried to hit it as hard as I can.”

United host QPR on Tuesday night in what will be a tough game with the Londoners being in good form. Although McBurnie is confident that he will get on the scoresheet again. If he does, hopefully it will result in more than just a point as Norwich City close in on the top spot after their win on Saturday.
