Highly rated 19 year-old Daniel Jebbison made just his third start of the season last Saturday during United’s 2-0 FA Cup victory down at the Den.

Jebbison made full use of his starting opportunity by putting in a good performance which was capped off by a goal. The 19 year-old started up front alongside a familiar face in Iliman Ndiaye, the two having played together and flourished in the Sheffield United development team under Paul Heckingbottom in 2020/2021.

Paul Heckingbottom and the rest of the United coaching staff are extremely high on the Canadian-born striker.

Last season, Jebbison spent half a season on loan at Burton Albion in League One where he scored 7 goals for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink – making 14 starts and 6 substitute appearances before being recalled.

This season, Jebbison has been kept in and around the Blades matchday squad rather than being shipped out on loan, but the majority of the time he has been an unused sub.

The teenager offers Sheffield United a completely different option to what they currently have in the attacking position. Jebbison’s height and strength coupled with his pace and determination makes him a handful for opposition defenders, as Millwall saw last Saturday in the FA Cup.

Blades manager Paul Heckingbottom reflected on Jebbison’s performance:

“With young players, one of the things you know you are going to get is inconsistency. But when you are sat in my chair, you want to know exactly what you are going to get from everyone. The more consistent he gets, the more minutes he will get.” [The Star]

Jebbison has featured in four-straight games for United, and after putting in a good performance against QPR and now Millwall, could he be in contention for a place in the starting eleven against Stoke City on Saturday?
