I’m not sure whether or not to take this as a positive or a negative in the grand scheme of things.

Chris Wilder is somewhat trying to keep himself positive through it all, and I can understand why, but sooner or later it’s going to have to improve.

Sheffield United have conceded three goals so far this season in the league, and according to the boss, they could all have been easily prevented.

Speaking after the game with Aston Villa (via @The_Bladesman), Wilder pointed out that all three goals that we’ve conceded have been routine errors and that he wouldn’t be so angry if they were conceding well worked ones.

“Foot, gun, shoot. That’s what we’re doing, we’re killing ourselves. Wolves game we gifted them 2 goals. Tonight’s not a well worked goal. If Grealish beats 3 and pops it top corner or caught on the counter I can semi accept that.”

And whilst these are going down as mistakes, something that’s easier to fix than a glaring flaw in the system, you do start to wonder when we’re going to eradicate them from our game.

The people on Sky Sports pointed out during the game just how hard our fixtures look in the coming weeks, including a stretch where we play four ‘big six’ teams in the space of five games, and if those mistakes carry on, then we aren’t going to get many points out of those games, even if we had a small chance of doing so to begin with.

So whilst these might be easy to correct, we need to make sure we’re doing it sharply, because on paper at least, it doesn’t look like we’re in a good position to pick up many points if we don’t.

What about you? Do you agree with Wilder’s comments on the goals we are conceding?
