Everton have completed the signing of Phil Jagielka, only a day after the Blades lost their appeal to be reinstated to the Premier League.

Jagielka will join David Moyes side in a 5 year deal that is reported to net the Blades around £4M.

If any evidence was needed to prove that players will say anything to please their new fans, Jagielka told the Everton official site,

‘When I played here (Goodison Park) last season the fans were fantastic and hopefully I’ll get to run out sooner rather than later.’

Now I’m sure Everton fans created some great atmospheres last season, but I’m afraid our visit there was not one of them.

Around 3,000 Blades fans, losing 2-0 and down to 10 men, out sang 30 odd thousand Toffee fans all afternoon!

Still, I suppose you can’t blame Jags for trying to get on the good side of the fans of his new club.

The ex-Blade star also went on to add the reasons he chose to move to Everton over other Premiership clubs,

‘The manager was keen to sign me and that is always a nice sign. Being in Europe, where we belong, and his pull to bring me here were massive reasons.’
