It has finally been announced this afternoon that the Blades have failed in their bid to be reinstated to the Premier League.
The arbitration panel found in favour of the Premier League’s decision to fine West Ham but not dock any points for their dealings involving Tevez and Mascherano.
A statement on the Official Sheffield United site read:
‘…the tribunal recognised that the outcome of the decision turned out to be ‘unfortunate in the extreme’, and that Sheffield United have done nothing wrong to merit this outcome.
The panel themselves stated, ‘The tribunal had much sympathy for Sheffield United’s grievances.’
They also went on to say that they had ‘sympathy’ with the Blades and that West Ham had been ‘deliberately deceitful.’
Yet after all this they still couldn’t overturn the original decision! Read into that what you will.
So it’s Championship football for the Blades next month, after just a single roller coaster season in the Premiership.
But hey, look on the bright side, at least it’ll be cheaper to travel away from home!
