Sheffield United striker Richard Cresswell was beaming as he signed his contract extension at Bramall Lane earlier this week.

Cresswell, who signed for United midway through last season finished the club’s top scorer, and believes he made the right decision stepping down from the Premier League.

‘It’s been a fantastic move for me personally. I came here to play football, even took a drop in wages, and things couldn’t have gone much better.

‘I managed to score plenty of goals and in the end I think I won the fans over, so I want to produce that level of performance for the next three years.’

Speaking of his long term ambitions, the former Stoke City forward believes he can help lead the club back to the Premiership, and thinks United can aim for the big time in 2011.

‘The reason I came here in the first place was to get this club back to the Premiership because everything is geared up for the top flight. I’m not here just to pick my money up, I’m here to win promotion.

‘I’m an ambitious individual and getting back into the Premiership is something that drives me on. We have got to set our sights on the big prize and we must give it a real good crack.’
