Next man up, we can’t afford to beat around the bush on this one.

That’s more or less my reaction to the news coming out of Bramall Lane and Chris Wilder’s press conference when it concerns the injury status of midfielder John Lundstram.

The 26-year-old came off injured in the defeat to Arsenal at the weekend, and speaking ahead of our game against Tottenham tomorrow night, Wilder gave an update on the midfielder, saying that the decision on whether or not he’ll be playing will be made a lot closer to game time:

“He had a scan this morning so it’s dependent on that, looking back it was an awkward fall so he’s touch and go for Thursday.”

And with that said, I think it’s pretty obvious who should be the man to replace him, and that’s the man who did that job on Sunday, Sander Berge.

Having put in a very impressive performance against the Gunners, and receiving plenty of praise from the supporters as a result, it seems like the natural process to just let him take on the role left behind by Lundstram.

How many goals will Berge score for us this season?

Less than 3

Less than 3

3 or more

3 or more

The fact that Lundstram’s injury is touch and go at this stage should be a warning sign, and given how crucial things are for the Blades, both in terms of the league position, and the opponents we are set to face in the coming weeks, I’d much rather we take a cautious approach and let him be totally healed up rather than rush him back.

Rather have him miss one game than potentially the rest of the season if things go completely wrong for him.

What about you? Do you think Berge should take Lundstram’s place? Or would you take the risk?
