Sheffield United have signed defender Jonathan Fortune on a short term deal.

Defender Fortune, had been available following the Addicks not renewing his contract in the Summer.

The 29 year old played a part in the Blades 3-0 pre season victory over Bury as part of a trial, but an injury brought a premature end to his part in pre season.

United manager Kevin Blackwell gave the defender chance to prove his fitness with the chance of winning a contract at Bramall Lane.

Blackwell explained the situation on Friday evening to Radio Sheffield following the 3-2 victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

‘Jonathan’s signed now, it’s just a short term thing until Christmas’

With the Blades squad exposed in some areas, Blackwell has already acquired Jordan Stewart and Andrew Davies to provide cover at the back.
