Sheffield United progressed to the third round of the FA Youth Cup following a 4-1 victory at Cheltenham last night.

Joe Ironside continued his fine recent form as the Blades scored a resounding victory in the rearranged fixture.

A strong Blades side saw Jordan Slew, Matty Harriott and George Long all start, despite their recent inclusions in the first team. However, it was goals from Irnoside, Corey Gregory, Harry Maguire and Terry Kennedy that sealed the victory for John Pemberton’s men.

The Blades took the lead ten minutes in when Ironside headed home a far post corner, something which would prove fruitful for the visitors in this game. The second goal, came from a similar situation when Maguire this time beat the goalkeeper Barnfather.

Gregory tapped home a third just before the 70 minute mark despite suspicions of offside, just a minute after Cheltenham had hit back through Jacob Morgan.

The victory was sealed on 74 minutes when Maguire’s central defensive partner Terry Kennedy continued the trend of heading home a corner at the far post to confirm progression to a tie against Millwall.
