Sheffield United confirmed yesterday that 25-year-old midfielder Samir Carruthers had completed a loan switch out to Oxford United for the season of 2018/19.

The club’s official confirmation of the loan didn’t include reference to whether or not there was a pre-arranged buy-clause in the deal but it’s fair to say the move to Bramall Lane certainly hasn’t seen him recapture the potential it was believed he had earlier in his career. He’s never really got himself up and running following his arrival from MK Dons in the January transfer window and he departs this summer having made only nine starting appearances. The bulk of his showings have been as a substitute as he came on from the bench on 22 occasions in 2017/18.
Carruthers is one of a number of players manager Chris Wilder has made available as he looks to strengthen the group further this summer in the hopes of going one step closer to possible promotion to the Premier League.
For now, we’ve at least freed up some wages and under Karl Robinson, maybe he can rediscover his form and we can capitalise on that when it comes to a future transfer fee.
Yea but i rather they had sold him than send him out on loan
