Sheffield United could be without defender Kyle Bartley for up to two months after breaking his cheekbone in Tuesday evening’s draw with Nottingham Forest.

Bartley, who re-signed with the Blades over the summer had just started to look the assured prospect we were promised, but after a clash of heads with Adebola face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

United manager Gary Speed had this to say:

i>’It was a clash of heads. Kyle got there first, but it was certainly an accident.’

‘We knew it was fractured straight away and he was taken to hospital for treatment.’

‘There was no blame attached to Dele, he’s not that sort of player, but he got there fractionally later than Kyle, who came off worse.’

With Chris Morgan also out for almost a month, new signing De Laet could partner Nosworthy in central defence on Saturday, or the versatile Matt Lowton could revert to a position he played as a youngster.
