It was a game of two halves yesterday as United came from two goals down to draw level with Norwich City in the second half.

Sheffield United found themselves 2-0 after just 16 minutes via a brace from Teemu Pukki, but United’s goalkeeper and the defence didn’t help themselves. The Blades backup goalkeeper dallied on the ball which saw his clearance deflect off of the onrushing Pukki. Then with the second goal, Ahmedhodzic was outmuscled by the Finnish striker and he fired it past Davies between the sticks.

The Blades weren’t really in sync in the first half yesterday. There were moments of sloppy play from both sides, but particularly from United. In the first half, United lacked the creative spark, and that was probably down to the absence of Iliman Ndiaye. However, Paul Heckingbottom brought the Senegalese international on at halftime and United’s build-up and chance creation vastly improved.

United registered just six shots in the first half, creating zero big chances. In the second half they had sixteen shots and they created five big chances, they also hit the woodwork.

Paul Heckingbottom explained to SUTV why there was such a huge contrast between the first and second halves:

“In the second half, we showed risk and bravery. We showed risk and bravery first half but we didn’t deal with the long ball. We weren’t strong enough. Second half we deal with it and it becomes a different game.”

United are winless in six now, and they are next on their travels to play West Bromwich Albion next Saturday at 12:30 PM.
