Sheffield United missed the chance to extend the gap between them and second placed Sheffield Wednesday following a draw at Colchester on Tuesday night.
The game in hand that The Blades had gave them a perfect opportunity to do this, and having taken the lead this seemed more likely.
Danny Wilson is disappointed that his side couldn’t hold on for the win but still thinks it could prove a ‘very good point’ come the end of the season: ‘we’re disappointed in the goal we conceded, but not by the finish, because it was a magnificent finish.
‘We had the lion’s share of possession and got into some good positions, but we haven’t tested them enough, if I’m quite honest. But this could be a very good point for us come the end of the season, who knows.’
In spite of it all had Wilson been given the current situation that he finds his side in at the start of the season he would have taken it! Although he knows there is still a long way, and a lot of points to play for, until the end of the season: ‘if you said to us we’d be in second place like this at the end of the season, we’d more than gladly take it.
‘But we still have a lot of work to do – we’re two points in front but that can be turned around pretty quickly.’
