Sheffield United laid down a marker with an impressive 5-2 win at Notts County on Tuesday night.
Danny Wilson said that the win was ‘special’ with him branding his side ‘absolutely outstanding’ for a large chunk of the first half: ‘that was special. The first 25 minutes was absolutely outstanding.
‘We’ve come here under a bit of pressure from some quarters but that is how you answer people. The passing, the clinical finishing and the determination – everything involved in winning games was on show.
‘Four-nil at half-time – yes I thought we deserved that. I don’t think it was lucky. Second half they’ve had a good go at it and put a few subs on who made it difficult for us but I always thought we could score.’
The drawback, or disappointment, was that The Blades conceded twice as Wilson didn’t think his side deserved to this: ‘the only disappointment is that we’ve conceded a couple of goals as I don’t think we deserved to. If we came in here with a 1-0 I think it would have been a fantastic result but that was a very, very strong performance.’
