Sheffield United boss Danny Wilson believes he can lead the Blades back to the Premier League, if the correct foundations can be built upon.

Wilson, who was appointed as manager yesterday amidst a car park protest from a number of Sheffield United fans is hoping to prove his critics wrong and lead the Blades back to the second tier, and eventually the Premier League due to their Premier League stature.

‘This can’t be a personal thing, when the season starts and the fans see the players on the field it is not about Danny Wilson, it is about trying to get this club back to where it belongs, and I think that is back into the Premiership because that is what it is geared up for.

‘I can look forward with a great determination about helping Sheffield United win games and that is key, as is winning in a certain manner. Everybody wants a winning team and to be entertained and hopefully we can achieve that. We will all be judged when we starting kicking a ball in anger.

‘Everything here is geared for the top-flight and that is testimony to Kevin (McCabe) and the Board of Directors. The family has pumped a lot of money in to achieve this so obviously that is why the expectation level is so high.’
