With the impending departure of manager Gary Speed, the book has opened on who will be taking charge of the Blades with some interesting names in the pipeline.

Former Hull City boss Phil Brown currently leads the charge with Skybet at 3/1 favourite, closely followed by departed Toon manager Chris Hughton (4/1).

However, further down the list, there are some intriguing suggestions with ex-Blades galore coming to the fore. John Pemberton who was appointed academy director during the Summer has a short price of 10/1 and Oxford United manager Chris Wilder is at 16. Wilder has an excellent pedigree and a strict manner in terms of management, so this could be the ideal step up for him, at a club where he enjoyed two spells as a player, although payment to his current club could provide a stumbling block.

Should the Blades board be willing to pay compensation to lure a manager, Lee Clark is available at 12/1, just behind the fans choice Sean O`Driscoll at 12.

Alan Cork and Dean Saunders who have both had lengthy coaching spells in the Premier League could be tempted into management at a club they know well, but Brian Deane`s price of 25/1 appears to be a little too short.

So who would you, the Vital public like to see take the hot seat at Bramall Lane and become the third permanent manager this season?
