Sheffield United favourite Keith Edwards believes Gary Speed has made the wrong decision taking the coaching job with the Welsh national team.
Speed, who is only three months into his lengthy deal at Bramall Lane looks set to be named head coach of his native Wales this afternoon, but Edwards, who summarises for United`s games on BBC Radio Sheffield thinks it`s a case of making decisions with his heart over his head.
‘I think his heart has ruled his head. In reality the job is trying to qualify for a competition, getting knocked out and going home early and then doing it all again next time round. ‘They don’t win and that’s why it shouldn’t appeal to him. And the really big challenge is to get this club back into play-off contention.
‘United should have said no to the Welsh FA and told Speed he’s got a job to do here. They gave him a three-year contract and that’s maybe a decision they should have stuck by.’
