With a tight battle at the top of the Championship table and both automatic promotion slots still capable of being stolen, Sheffield United go into what could be a key game this coming Saturday against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.

Manager Chris Wilder’s side have a slight advantage at this stage as we are sat in second place on 61 points, but head coach Darren Moore’s side are one point below us in fourth position. The game in isolation won’t decide anything for 2018/19, but obviously, victory and the three points would be an additional advantage.

Speaking to the Star this week as preparations continue for the match, Wilder was adamant the focus had to remain purely on what we did and not what anyone else in the battle achieves in their other matches.

“I’m not interested in what Leeds do or what Norwich City do. We can’t affect what happens there so I’m genuinely not interested in them unless we’re playing them. All I want to do is focus on ourselves and make sure we get results because that’s something we can influence. We can’t influence what other clubs do so it’s a waste of time worrying about that. The focus is on us. Making sure we’re ready and right. Nothing else.”

It’s 100% the right attitude with the games that remain as the players themselves can’t look at this match as a six pointer, they all are, and that everything attitude is what got us here in the first place and it’ll be the one that keeps us there if it’s meant to be – and it’s in our hands.
