Warnock Talk!

We asked last week if the Blades can win the Championship league. 76% said yes, 8% said we wouldn’t win the league but we’d win promotion to the Premiership and a grumpy (!) 16% said no, but we’ll make the play offs.

Since the poll, Sheffield United have been replaced at the top by Reading and lost this weekends encounter against Leicester 4-2. Surely the wheels haven’t come off? Maybe the talk of the boss leaving Utd for Portsmouth has unsettled the team? Whatever the reason, the Blades now need to show what they are made of and bounce back next weekend against Sheffield Wednesday.

Warnock said after the defeat to Leicester that: ‘We lost the game in the first half, but I still thought if we could get the first goal in the second half, we could still go off to win it.’ before adding ‘We showed a lot of character in the second half when it would have been easier to roll over. But the third goal was the sucker punch and there was no way back from that. But it has been an important lesson to us because nobody has given us such an examination as they did in the first 45 minutes. Their front four were terrific, absolutely superb and you can’t take anything away from them.’

He also says that he will still be at Sheffield United for the ‘big game’ against cross city rivals Sheffield Wednesday. So maybe the speculation can turn to others, like Sir Bobby Robson and George Burley, who actually say they want the job?

It appears in our latest poll that fans disagree, 80% think Warnock will walk out on the club and take up the Portsmouth hot seat. I guess time will tell. He has always struck me as a man of his word, if he says he will be here next week, then he will be here.
